BSU players pay a special visit to a trio of young fans.

Today was not your typical Tuesday at Northern Elementary School in Bemidji. Those wandering the halls may have been compelled to do a double triple-take thanks to a visit from three uniquely similar Bemidji State Beaver men’s players.

While spotting BSU players out in the community meeting and greeting fans, today’s visit was special in that it involved Bemidji State’s Fitzgerald triplets, Gerry, Leo and Myles. The freshman trio from Port Alberni, B.C. is only one of 27 sets of brothers playing college hockey across the nation this season but they are the only set of triplets.

tripletsIn fact, it’s thought they are the first to ever play collegiate hockey for the same team at the same time.

But the visit was made even more extraordinary by its purpose. The Fitzgerald’s traveled from BSU’s campus to Northern’s to see fellow triplets, and Bemidji State fans Lauren, Megan and Katie.

Gerry, Leo and Myles presented the first-graders with autographed pucks, visited with them and their mom and then invited them to a BSU hockey game this season as their special guests.

A hat trick of fun the three young fans will never forget.
