1934:  Former NHL center Bob Kabel born in Dauphin, MN.  Kabel played in the NHL 1959-60 through 1960-61 with the New York Rangers.

1935:  Former NHL defenseman Elmer ‘Moose’ Vasko born in Duparquet, Que.  Vasko played in the NHL 1956-57 through 1969-70 with Chicago and the Minnesota North Stars.

1936:  Former NHL center Ted Hampson born in Togo, Sask.  Hampson played in the NHL 1959-60 through 1971-72 with Toronto, the New York Rangers, Detroit, Oakland and the Minnesota North Stars.

1938:  Boston rookie Frankie Brimsek recorded his third straight shutout (and third career victory) in a 3-0 win over the Rangers, at Madison Square Garden.  It was also the third of six shutouts in a seven game stretch for the rookie goalie.

1938:  Chicago goalie Mike Karakas recorded his 18th career shutout in the Black Hawks’ 4-0 win over the visiting New York Americans.

1941:  Former NHL left winger J.P. Parise born in Smooth Rock Falls, Ont.  Parise played in the NHL 1965-66 through 1978-79 with Boston, Toronto, the Minnesota North Stars, the New York Islanders and Cleveland.

1963:  Former NHL center Pat Micheletti born in Hibbing, MN.  Micheletti played in the NHL 1987-88 with the Minnesota North Stars.

1964:  Former NHL center Dave Gagner born in Chatham, Ont.  Gagner played in the NHL 1984-85 through 1998-99 with the New York Rangers, the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas, Toronto, Calgary, Florida and Vancouver.

1973:  Los Angeles Kings rookie center Phil Hoene became the second player in NHL history to score his first goal on a penalty shot, when he scored against goalie Cesare Maniago.  The Kings lost to the North Stars at Minnesota, 6-3.

1973:  Minnesota North Stars’ Bill Goldsworthy set a franchise record with three goals in the first period, and added an assist in a 6-3 win over the L.A. Kings; with the win the North Stars extended their unbeaten streak against L.A. to 17-0-4.

1975:  Bryan Hextall scored two goals and two assists and Bill Goldsworthy added a goal and two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-3 win against the Scouts, at Kansas City.

1985:  Brian Bellows scored four goals, including his 1st NHL career hat trick, Scott Bjugstad also collected his first career hat trick and an assist, and Keith Acton added two goals and two assists in the Minnesota North Stars’ 10-2 win at Detroit.

1986:  Minnesota’s Kent Nilsson scored twice and added an assist as the North Stars tied 6-6, at Detroit.  Darren Veitch had two goals and an assist for the Red Wings.

1990:  Pittsburgh Penguins obtained defensemen Larry Murphy and Peter Taglianetti from the Minnesota North Stars, in trade for Jim Johnson and Chris Dahlquist.

1990:  Minnesota’s Neal Broten scored a goal and had three assists, as the North Stars lost 5-4 to the visiting Calgary Flames.

1996:  Toronto Maple Leafs signed Tom Pederson as a free agent.

2003:  Jacques Lemaire became the fourth man in NHL history to coach 750 games after previously playing in 750 (or more) games when the Minnesota Wild lost 1-0 to the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.

2003:  Minnesota’s Marian Gaborik tied a franchise record with 7 shots in the second period and finished with 8 shots in the game, a 1-0 loss to the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.
