1969: Minnesota General Manager Wren Blair took over as the North Stars coach, replacing John Muckler, whom was fired.
1971: Doug Grant and Ted Harris represent the North Stars in the ’71 NHL All-Star game played in Boston.
1972: Lou Nanne scored a goal and two assists, and Doug Mohns added three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-1 win against the Red Wings at Detroit.
1974: J.P. Parise scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-3 win against Toronto at the Met Center.
1975: Nick Libett and Bill Lochead each scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Red Wings to a 4-4 tie against the North Stars at the Olympia. Fred Stanfield had a goal and two assists for Minnesota.
1980: Blair MacDonald scored his second career hat trick in the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 win in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh’s Russ Anderson set a team record with 51 penalty minutes in the game (3 minors, 3 majors and 3 misconducts).
1993: Winnipeg’s Phil Housley extended his team-record consecutive game assist streak to 14 straight in the Jets’ 5-2 win against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Housley had 21 assists during the 14 game streak.
2006: Shane Doan scored two of Phoenix’s team-record tying five power-play goals, and defenseman Keith Ballard set a franchise rookie record with four assists in the Coyotes 6-3 win over the visiting Florida Panthers.
2007: Minnesota Wild set a franchise record with their fourth consecutive road victory, a 3-0 win over the Blackhawks — and their first ever shutout at Chicago. Marian Gaborik scored twice and Manny Fernandez recorded his 13th career shutout.
2009: Blues trailed by two goals with 80 seconds left in regulation, but came back and David Backes scored the tying goal with eight-tenths of a second left in regulation as the St. Louis Blues went on to beat the Bruins 5-4 in a shootout in Boston.
2009: Marek Zidlicky had two power-play goals and an assist and Niklas Backstrom made 40 saves to lead the Wild to a 4-1 win at Chicago.
2011: Minnesota’s Niklas Backstrom recorded his 21st career shutout and Martin Havlat had two goals (to give him 200 in his career) and an assist while Kyle Brodziak picked up three assists in a 6-0 win at Calgary.
2013: The 7th annual Hockey Day Minnesota took place with the featured outdoor High School Hockey games played on Lake Pokegama in Grand Rapids, MN. The day featured Eagan vs. Hibbing (boys), and Benilde St. Margaret’s vs. Grand Rapids (boys) on icy Pokegema Lake. Grand Rapids also faced off against Hibbing (Girls on tape delay) from Rapids.
