Moorhead just keeps rolling, the Spuds won their second “major” Sunday, sweeping the Spirit of Duluth over #2. Wayzata has established itself as a solid #3 in the state. Their only losses are to top-5 teams.

Defending state champ Edina enters the top-10 discussion with a final four finish at the SOD.

Bantam A

10. Minnetonka 6 WWW

Warroad is for real. The Warriors took the top AA teams to the brink in the Blue Ox and now they won the AA/A Roseau tourney down county road 11 on Sunday. Northern Lakes won the Breezy Point tourney on their home ice Sunday…the Lightning continue to thrive at the Bantam level each year.

Bantam B
(Rank-Team-District-Last Week)

1. Mahtomedi 2 WWWWWWW
2. Osseo/Maple Grove (Black) 3 W
3. Hastings 8 TWWWWL
4. Eden Prairie 6 WW

7. Becker-Big Lake 5 WWWW
8. Blaine (Blue) 10 WLW
9. White Bear Lake (Black) 2 WWWL
10. Bemidji (Blue) 16 WWLL

A whirlwind of a weekend in Bantam B. Lots of Hardware handed out all over Minnesota. Becker-Big Lake is in the top-10 with a tourney win in Warroad. So was Mahtomedi, the Zephyrs win a stacked Bemidji tournament over Hastings. Minnetonka beat White Bear Lake Black in the Mankato finals.

So many top teams in Bantam B’s this year.

Peewee AA
(Rank-Team-District-Last Week)

1. Minnetonka AA 6 TWWWW
2. Moorhead AA 15 WWWL
3. East Grand Forks 16 WLWW
4. Woodbury AA 8 WWWWL
5. Stillwater AA 2 WT
6. Osseo/Maple Grove AA 3 TTWL
7. White Bear Lake AA 2
8. Rochester AA 9 W
9. Prior Lake 6 WWLLL
10. Brainerd 15 W

We were speechless last week. Literally no PWAA commentary. Partly because we forgot and partly because we witnessed Moorhead lose to Minnetonka 8-0. Our records show that the Spuds PeeWee AA hasn’t suffered an eight goal defeat in the YHH era (2010-11).

Well, the Spuds came a goal away from turing the tables on Minnetonka in the Spirit of Duluth finals a week later, coming up short in OT on a Will Stinson GWG.

Peewee A
(Rank-Team-District-Last Week)

1. Warroad 16 W
2. Roseville 2 WW
3. Proctor 11 L
4. Northfield 9 WW
5. Park-Cottage Grove 8 WW
6. Mankato 9 WL
7. Shakopee 6 T
8. River Lakes 5 WW
9. Osseo Maple Grove 3 W
10. Marshall 4 WWW

Warroad and Roseville are in a class by themselves so far in single A. Both teams are top-10 AA teams who are simply forcing their will on A opponents at this point of the season.

Roseville beat Big Pumpkin semifinalist Eden Prairie last weekend. The Warriors have seven AA wins under their belt and their lone loss was to No. 2AA Moorhead in a game that went deep into the third period.

Peewee B
(Rank-Team-District-Last Week)

1. Osseo Maple Grove (Black) 3 W
2. Minnetonka (Black) 6 W
3. Edina (White) 6 TT
4. Minnetonka (Blue) 6 LWW
5. East Grand Forks 16 W
6. East Metro 2 WW
7. Bemidji (Blue) 16 WWW
8. Eastview 8 WWT
9. Grand Rapids (Orange) 12 LWWW
10. Prior Lake (Gold) 6 TW

No surprise Minnetonka has two PWB teams in the top-5. The Skippers have left the state Black and Blue going 25-3-1 in the first six weeks of the season.

OMG Black grabs the top spot this week. Since November 1, the Leafbirds have gone 13-1 and have five top-10 wins.
