1915: NHL Hall of Famer Frank Brimsek born in Eveleth, MN. Brimsek played in the NHL 1938-39 through 1949-50 with Boston and Chicago.
1967: The expansion Minnesota North Stars improved to 6-1-0 in their first NHL preseason, after a 3-0 win over the Oakland Seals, in a game played at Oshawa, Ontario. It was also their second straight shutout victory.
1974: The Minnesota North Stars faced off against their NHL counterparts in fall exhibition games vs the WHA in games played from 72-78. The North Stars-5 vs. Toronto Toros-3 was played on this date.
1982: NHL defenseman John Scott born in St. Catharines, Ont. Scott has played in the NHL since 2008-09 with the Minnesota Wild and Chicago.
2000: Calgary Flames acquired Jordan Leopold from the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for Andrei Nazarov and a future draft pick.
