i have a Virginia Bantam and also a Pee Wee. The #1 & #2 seed for Pee Wee's for the North Region were Highland Central & Mahtomedi. Those two teams ended up playing for the state championship. I cannot accept the logic that those teams were placed in the North Region - along with Tartan & Highland Central for Bantams. It's almost comical that the State champions for both Bantams and Pee Wees were from the North Region yet they were Metro teams - and not even North metro teams. Almost comical - if it wasn't such a disappointment that true North teams were not representing the North Region. Our Virginia Bantams had 18 players come out to play in the fall - all of those kids made the team. All different skill levels - no B team - all kids made the A team. I hope that logic and fairness will overcome the politics, or whatever it is, that has made this division of the regions make sense in the past.

How many times have we heard it's only a game , and it doesn't matter who wins? We say that but isn't it the dream of all youth hockey players to win and get a chance to go to state. That was taken away from the out state kids this year. I heard more than once from the kids how do we compete when we have 1 bantam team and they have 5. I believe they can compete, if it is a fair playing field. Keep regional tournements in their areas. Then when theses teams get to state let the chips fall where they may.Our kids in northern Mn want the chance to play against the best teams in the state.

This will touch many hearts all through out the state. Scuffed up breezers or shiny new ones, neither make a difference. The love of the game is what matters. It shouldn't matter how much money you have. The privilege of representing where you come from is an honor. And every section of the state should be able to be a part of that. The north, the south, the east, the west and the central. Let the true love of the game thrive.
