The Rochester Amateur Sports Commission, an organization that hosts local, state, regional and national sports competitions, donated a check for $5,000 to the Minnesota Junior Hockey League at the recent MNJHL Interdivision Series held in Rochester, MN. Accepting the check was Minnesota Junior League President Ralph Hayne and League Commissioner Mike Staloch. The check was presented by Sports Commission Executive Director Ed Hruska on ice before the evening games at the Rochester Rec Center – home of the 2011-3 USA Hockey Junior Tier III National Championships

“We believe it is important to give back to our partners”, shared Hruska. “Our partnership with the Minnesota Junior League was essential in our ability to host the National Championship in Rochester the past three years. We hope these dollars can be wisely used to help the league carry out their mission”.

Ralph Hayne was very pleased with the donation, “This was a pleasant surprise. Not only did Rochester Minnesota and their Sports Commission run several wonderful league events recently they really did an outstanding job in administering the National Championship each year in it was here – they made Minnesota proud!”

Hayne said the dollars will be applied to the league to cover costs as needed. “It certainly will come in handy…we are thankful for the Sports Commissions generosity,” added Hayne.

The USA Hockey Junior National Championship will be held in Simsbury, Connecticut in 2014. “We hated to see it go” shared Hruska. “Perhaps it will return here in the future”.
