Gold Division game summaries

Burnsville 5, Eastview 0.

Burnsville spread their scoring among five different players as the Blaze took advantage of several defensive mistakes and lapses by Eastview and jumped a 5-0 lead after two periods and then cruised to the victory. Jake Thomas, Nolan Sawchuk, Logan Osland, Joe Hartung and Eric Otto scored for the winners.

Eden Prairie 3, Hill-Murray 2. (overtime)

Hugh Truempi scored at 3:10 of the overtime period to lead Eden Prarie to a 3-2 first round victory over Hill-Murray. It was a fitting ending to a tight, well-played game in which each team had good scoring chances and the two goalies – Shaun Durocher for Eden Prairie and Sean Wendlandt for Hill-Murray — stood tall in the nets. Marko Reifenberger tallied both goals for Hill-Murray.

St. Thomas Academy 4, Duluth East 1.

Peter Tufto had a hand in all four goals for victorious St. Thomas Academy. Tufto scored a goal in the second period and assisted in the other three goals. The Cadets outshot the Greyhounds 33-18 in their convincing victory.

Minnetonka 3, Edina 3. (Minnetonka won overtime shootout to advance.)

Minnetonka’s Gavin Payne scored in the fourth round of an overtime shootout to break a 3-3 tie and lead the Skippers into the semifinals. Earlier, Edina had jumped out to a 2-0 lead by 5:59 of the first period, but Minnetonka rallied with two goals in the final two minutes of the period to tie the score 2-2 by the first intermission.

The teams traded goals in the second period, and then both came up empty in period three and the overtime, setting up the shootout. In the shootout, Minnetonka score on three of four chances.
