Eighty-one of 90 teams will hail from out-of-state

Blaine, Minn. (January 15, 2015) – OneHockey is making its annual trek to Minnesota this weekend for its Third Annual Minnesota Gone Wild Tournament.  There will be 90 teams attending this event and 81 are from outside of Minnesota.  Out-of-state teams are attending from Texas, Arizona, Florida, California, Illinois, Colorado, Utah and Washington. International teams will represent Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba and Riga, Latvia.

“With fully 90 percent of the teams in the Minnesota Gone Wild Tournament coming from outside Minnesota, this tournament is one of the largest out-of-state economic impact hockey tournaments held annually at the Schwan Super Rink,” said Barclay Kruse, the National Sports Center’s Chief Communications Officer.

Games will start on Friday, January 16. Championship games are set for Monday, January 19.

OneHockey has been hosting ice hockey tournaments since 2003 and they have grown to be the largest tournament group in North America.  In the past three years, they have grown from three events per year to more than 15.  OneHockey has seen such success in Minnesota that they have added an off-season event over the 4th of July holiday weekend, the Minnesota Summer Slam.

OneHockey events are unique because they are so entertaining — winners hoist a replica Stanley Cup and receive non-alcoholic champagne in the locker rooms, MVP awards, Player of the Game awards, music and mascots.
