The Lou Cotroneo Award
The Lou Cotroneo Award, sponsored by Strauss Skates & Bicycles, seeks to recognize high school players, male or female, who contribute to their communities, local and/or global, in a truly benevolent manner. The award is named in honor of the long-time St. Paul Johnson player and coach who was nicknamed “the Godfather of St. Paul hockey” by former Minnesota U.S. Senator and St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman.
Candidates of all skill levels, ranging from team captains to role players, are eligible to be honored, not for their statistical achievements or won-lost records, but for their volunteer efforts to help those in need. Weekly winners will be announced by Bally Sports North’s Kevin Gorg on Minnesota Hockey Magazine’s The Sieve and the Scribe Podcast which Gorg co-hosts with Minnesota Wild Digital Content Coordinator, Dan Myers.
Coaches whose player is selected will receive a $25 gift certificate from award co-sponsor Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub.
We look forward to receiving your nominations via the form below and the opportunity to honor worthy athletes for their contributions away from the ice.
