This Day in MN Hockey History: Sept. 28

1948:  Former NHL defenseman Barry Gibbs born in Lloydminster, Sask.  Gibbs played in the NHL 1967-68 through 1979-80 with Boston, the Minnesota North Stars, Atlanta, St. Louis and Los Angeles.

1959:  Former NHL left winger Tim Trimper born in Windsor, Ont.  Trimper played in the NHL 1979-80 through 1984-85 with Chicago, Winnipeg and the Minnesota North Stars.

1977:  The Minnesota North Stars faced off against their NHL counterparts in fall exhibition games vs the WHA in games played from 72-78.  The North Stars-2 vs. Winnipeg Jets-1 was played on this date.

DinoCiccarelli-1-11979:  Minnesota North Stars signed free agent Dino Ciccarelli from the London Knights of the OHA.  Ciccarelli fractured his leg in his final junior season and went undrafted by all 21 NHL teams.

1997:  Waiver Draft: Bos Tim Taylor det, NYI Tom Chorske (ott) Cal – Mike Peluso (NYR) TB Mick Vukota (NYI) STL Pascal Rheame (NJD) Pho -Jimmy Waite (Chi) Ana Brent Severyn (col) NJD Scott Daniels (Phi).

2001:  9 players Waiver Draft. NYI Osgood from Det, S. Bordeleau Min from STL Muller Columbus from Dal, Jamie Allison Cgy from Chi, Housley Chi from Cgy, PJ Stock Bos from NYR, Glen Metropolit TB from Wsh, John Holden Car from Van, Martin Brochu Van from Min
